A water plant in Zhaoqing High tech Zone of Yuehai Water Group used KENFLO’s KPS mid opened double suction pump again

A water supply company in Zhaoqing High tech Zone of Yuehai Water Group has a number of water plants under its jurisdiction. Over the years, KENFLO pump products have been selected for energy-saving technical transformation to replace the old open double suction pumps.

In this project, the new KPS horizontal split double suction pump produced by KENFLO is selected. Huizhou Kefulai Pump Sales Co., Ltd. will carry out on-site construction, dismantle the old pump, retain the current motor, replace the coupling of the motor, remove and re pour the concrete foundation, and reinstall the new pump and motor.

The traditional elastic pin coupling is used to connect the old pump and motor. In this project, the coupling is disassembled and replaced with an elastic metal diaphragm coupling. The diaphragm is made of 304 stainless steel. The service life of the metal diaphragm is greatly increased, and the compensation for shaft misalignment is good, and the torque transmission efficiency is higher. The transmission efficiency of diaphragm coupling is about 1% higher than that of pin coupling.

It can be seen that the vibration at the bearing when the pump is running is only 1.0mm/s, which is far lower than the vibration limit of 2.8mm/s in the national standard. (According to the national standard, the vibration of this pump is excellent if it is lower than 2.8mm/s)。

The vibration at the drive end bearing is smaller, only 0.3mm/s. The user was extremely satisfied.

The characteristics of KPS open double suction pump are described as follows:

1. Maximum possible fluid efficiency

The efficiency of KPS's mid open double suction pump is up to 92.5%, which is the highest among all the double suction pumps in the world at present. No other mid open double suction pump can exceed the efficiency of KPS's pump (based on the data such as product samples published by manufacturers before 2020).

Compared with the old S and SH models, the efficiency of the double suction pump is increased by 5%~10%. (Compared with S and SH type mid open double suction pumps produced by KENFLO in the early years.)

Moreover, the high efficiency zone is wide, and the actual energy saving space is larger.

2. Application of the Latest Computer Aided Fluid Design CFD Technology

We establish the mathematical model and boundary conditions of the pump impeller, establish a set of multivariate equations, and then make use of the high-speed computing performance of the computer to carry out planning approximation solutions for many times, so as to obtain the most perfect hydraulic model. The perfect hydraulic model lays the foundation for high efficiency.
